François Grison, a student of Lekvien, left France at twenty-three and settled in Geneva. His paintings, mainly depicting genre scenes from the 16-17th centuries, attracted by their extraordinary liveliness and accurate rendering of the characters and moods of the heroes. A permanent exhibitor at the Paris Salon of the National Society of Arts from 1873 to 1910, the Geneva Exhibition, a participant in the exhibition at the Glass Palace in Munich in 1894 and the International Berlin Exhibition in 1896, Grisons received recognition far beyond Geneva. His works were acquired by the Metropolitan Museum in New York, the Museums of Muhlhausen and Strasbourg.
